The bidding system where card values double as your bid takes a few hands to click, but once it does every round feels tense. My usual trick-taking crew now asks for this over our old standby.

Two of us who play a lot of trick-taking games got into this immediately, and the Crown-versus-second-highest bidder twist keeps every hand tense right to the last card. It plays great at four players and the bidding never feels like luck.

The bidding reveal mechanic is so clever—it turns every hand into a tense negotiation even before the trick play starts. I’ve played it three nights in a row and the depth keeps pulling me back, it’s quickly become my group’s go-to opener.
